Replacing master cylinder and Destructions say not to bleed and also have bleeding instructions lol? My better judgment says to bleed anyway, How much does it matter?

Also behind the master was a seal I'm pretty sure is felt instead of rubber. It's in pretty poor condition. I wonder if I could use a battery post felt? There usually rubber but I don't know about in 66? I'm thinking about using cylicone and a new felt to reseal it where master mates to booster.
I wire brushed booster and shot some paint on it. Painted new master.

It says not to bench bleed it,so don't. Install it leave all your bleeders open until fluid starts dripping out of them at a pretty decent pace. Then tighten them all then bleed the brakes at the wheels,2 man,or vacuum. And I would bet the seal your talking about is dehydrated rubber,I can't imagine that seal being felt.I'd cut my own from rubber.
Edit, All I could read was do not bench bleed on the red sticker,that's what I based my response off of. I went back and screen shot your pic and expanded it so I could read everything. Now I understand your confusion. I'd still do it just like I posted though.

I think they printed just one instruction sheet for all their master cylinders and add the red sticker for master cylinders that should not be bench bled.
I would follow the instructions on the sticker.

I put this old master in at age 17. Now I'm doing it again lol. I really enjoy working on this old rig!! I'll probably make my own gasket and bleed it anyways then install like normal. The new master has a bleed screw in it unlike other one. I like that feature.

Most likely reason for no bench bleed is possible damage to internal seals if bottomed out. Have seen that happen. The felt if that's what it is possibly dust filter of some sort.

That's exactly what it seems like. I looked again and it does in fact have a rubber seal at the bottom, It just doesn't look like the later style ones that have separations. I still feel the need to put something in there to replace it because I think it helped with sealing pressure as well.

In The the daylight I see it's just foam. I rinsed it out and drying it now. Going to reuse it because it's surprisingly still pretty good looking. Unless I can find some better new material to make one with.

Just buy this tool and be done with the hassle of bleeding brakes and clutch systems. It can't be any easier or fool proof than this. Zero mess, never pump a pedal, one person task. Trust me, it's worth it's weight in gold!

Probably do it the old way this time but I'm definitely ordering this tool because I do brakes all the time!

Got it all together now. Cleaned and painted all the hardware and stuff. Found this tag on the mounting bolt, pretty neat I think.
