I "think" you could use a T5 from a Camaro, using the bellhousing and clutch from the typical SM465 truck trans, with a spacer ring to fit the T5 to the larger center bore. You could use a complete setup from the Camaro, but the bellhousing takes a smaller clutch, smaller nose starter and it tilts the trans over 15° or so.

Now, a T5 would be for light duty use only. Just driving around with no towing or heavy loads.

Stronger options are the NV3500 and NV4500, but those will cost more and significantly more, respectively. They will also require swapping to a hydraulic clutch and electric speedometer.

I will look into the T-5…. She isn’t going to do anymore heavy towing…. That’s what our dually is for and she wouldn’t even been able to handle those loads in her prime… she just gonna be a cruiser

There are lots of flavors of T5 look for something like ultimate T5 guide. I can't remember where it's at but, there are at least 3 different shifter positions, world class, non world class, different input shafts, gear ratios, speedometer drives, etc. Fortunately it's a common swap in old GM trucks and someone wrote up a good guide. Wish I could be more help pointing you to it.

It looks like American power train has a custom build service for the TKX 500. I will reach out to their sales tomorrow and see what they have to offer… much appreciated gentlemen…

The reason I mentioned the Camaro version is because of the shifter location. I believe it would put the shifter roughly in the same area as it would be on a 3-speed truck that has been converted to floor shift. The forward location would require a longer shifter with longer throws.

I honestly don't know,I just ran across that ultimate T5 guide once and saw all the ins and outs. I think it's a good read for anyone contemplating a T5 swap.
Edit ,there is a specific GMC 6 cylinder swap link in that previous link. Tried to copy and paste the link here, but failed. Will try again.
