If there's any tire laws here in Ohio, they aren't enforced. I used to hate this place, but as time goes on, I'm realizing that it has many good points.

The "two size" thing sounds bogus. How could that possibly be enforced? Not every truck still has the sticker in the door and many trucks were available with different tire sizes. And is that two sizes in height or width? Or both? With a metric tire, one size difference can change two different dimensions. And what about cross-sizing? A 315/75/16, a 35x12.5x16 and a 9.00x16 are all basically the same size tire.

I've only been pulled over twice in six years here in Texas and thats in our big 4x4. The first time the truck was covered in mud and we were driving slow. All the officer ask was if everthing was all right. I said yes , we just don't want to throw mud all over the other cars. He just said do me a favor and turn on your emergency flashers. No tickets! The other time they measured the height of our tail lights. No tickets that time either. When I built this truck I made sure that every thing would pass inspection. Thats why the headlights are under the front bumper. They can't be more than 54 inches to the center of the bulb.

But cant you get around that by using those tire flares that mount on the fenders on front and back? I know former co worker that tire sticking out past the body in Maryland and he put those flares on the his toyota truck to pass maryland inspection.

that wv law is BS guys change tires ALL the time, come on we had 33's on an 84 which had like 235/75's stock.

my old man said they classify going 2 sizes different, modified, and require a modified sticker but NOBODY does it.

Now if you lift one yes you need modified, but lowered you don't they never say a word.

I'm pretty sure they don't enforce the 31 inch max bumper height either I see nbs trucks way higher and runin around all the time.

They can't have anything like that here with all these guys running around in Cutlasses and MC that originally had 14" or 15" stockers now running on 24's! And as for the heights of the bumpers or lights, I've heard there is a law, but I've never heard of it being enforced. There are a couple guys around where I live with later model F-250s that the bottom of the body is as high as my car and nobody says anything. I'm still trying to figure out how they get in the doggone things!

I figure Lincoln county is more flexible than it is up here, but I know plenty of people who have their "2 sizes over stock" tires and wheels on standby for inspection time. 235/75 are supposed to be stock on 1/2 tons so they have a set of 31s for inspection, and with a couple inches body lift they can run 33-35s. And somehow garages know what came on what, I guess working on them so long they just know. I always got hassled until I started travelling further away from town to get my sticker. The modified inspection stations around here enforce the 31" bumper height law, and the one about tires sticking out past the body. If you're unlucky and just have 1/2" of tread past the fender you dont get no sticker lol. I think now I have 2 or 3" of tread out past the fender haha!
