I guess I need to figure out why mine is so low then. At idle its sitting at maybe 10 to 15. I dont know anything about the vehicle or motor so this should be fun.

As an engine ages the tolerances become less and thus causing a drop in oil pressure.

Other things can be poor gaskets or something as simple as a worn out oil pump.

K thanks. Would it be a good idea to double check and make sure the stock gauge is reading correct? Do they fail very often?

Definitely double check. If you have a mechanical pressure gauge you can hook up, do it. It's the best way to avoid spending money on unnecessary repairs.

so the ZERO i see at idle on a fully warmed engine is probably too low....could be the sending unit, haven't had a chance to try and hook my diagnostic mechanical gauge up yet..

where would be the best place to hook it up?

My mechanical gauge just got here today and I plan on hooking it up in place of the sending unit. Leaving the oil pressure switch on the T fitting and hooking the new gauge up where the sending unit was.

Sent from an old rotary telephone.
