Last couple. It’s got these speakers coming out of the center console. That doesn’t look remotely stock. It doesn’t look like a hack job, but it’s probably some nineties pimped out sound system.

Run away is the logical choice, but can you really go wrong with $500 price?

There isn't an inch on the thing inside or out that wouldn't need worked on. Did you put your foot on the floor? There is a lot of water in that car.

Always liked those wheels though.

Yes, and there still is a floor.

You think less would make for a better offer, or should I just forget about it? I’m not married to it, but there’s a very sexy car under all the grime.

A power washing and this would be a different car entirely. It does look to be a highly optioned berlinetta. How far away from the ocean has this car lived ?

I like it. It might be rough, but it appears solid and it's all there. It would look a lot better with one heck of a scrubbing.

That was an expensive car when new.

We’re not in a salty climate. Relatively close, about a 2.5 hour drive to the Gulf of Mexico, but it’s been sitting out in the weather for 20 years. I’m actually surprised it had even that much. None of my cars from here never have penetrative rust.

I have been through a car in a similar shape before and just about everything had to be replaced. Always kicked my self for not buying a better example. Can play with it, but it will take a lot to make it nice.
Just making it run on the other hand and leaving else alone would be just fine and would be a blast for a bit.

The rust you mentioned at the top of the A pillars would give me a lot of hesitation. Most other sheetmetal can be replaced fairly easily, but the way those pillars are laminated with 2 or 3 layers of steel, can be a pain to redo.

I’d probably buy it. But I don’t make the best financial decisions so take that with a grain of salt. But I like to save vehicles that have been cast aside.

I'm going to second the A pillar rust as being a turn off but lets take your goals for the car into account. If you want a pristine restoration then step away. If you want a toy that you dont mind slapping some bondo a maaco paint job on then buy it.

A quick power wash will help the look, you can get a set of tires for under $200, some weatherstripping, seat covers, and a tune up. If it runs and drives well after that you can decide whether you want to keep it or kick it down the road for $1500.

Its definitely a nicely optioned Berlinetta.

That seemed weird to me; I’m glad you pointed that out. It seemed like a pit of rust right there rather than going all the way through. I’m thinking I could find a cleaner example down the road or maybe a different “cool” car altogether. The challenge to save something is tempting, and it could probably be done, but I’ve got five vehicles to take care of without having to start almost from scratch on a sixth.

The rust by the ps ttop on the roof looks like its though which means water in the roof... interior shot, possible roof/a pillar rust, unknown engine/trans condition, not a rare car... sounds to me like a parts car.
