That fan has too much slop in it.

It sounds to me like a broken valvetrain component, but it's too fast sounding for being just at idle.

I thought valve train too!!! But yes thats at idle. Also after that first vid (on my lunch) i started it at 5, right after the fan vid and i didnt hear it... im really at a loss. Im gunna pull valve covers tomorrow and look. Ive driven a truck with broken rocker studs before so it wouldnt surprise me to see.

Well due to rain i got nothing done. I went out just a bit ago to fire it up and listen because this noise seems to show up when its wet or damp outside. Well it started out fine then the noise showed and progressed louder. The knock from yesterday is gone but this annoying noise is still there. I tried to get a better vid for you guys to hear. To me it sounds rotational, it stays the same if you slowly throttle it up, at that point my flowmasters overpower the noise so.

I would check a couple things. My truck has TWO knock sources. First being the power steering pump. I heard this knock and immediately shut it off and started yanking on the pulleys. Took all of about 2 minutes to find that my power steering pulley has TONS of slop. I actually just ordered a new pump today because the pulley installer didn’t tighten it down any.

The second knock is from my flexplate. I had friends of mine tell me “your bottom end is gone”, “your cam wiped a lobe”... well none of them were even close. I pulled the access shield on the bottom of the bell housing and I saw clear as day, the old girl has a crack on her flexplate.

Here is the noise....

I will be putting a new one in and a high stall converter next week, BUT this noise varies... I sometimes don’t here it for a long time. Sometimes it randomly starts clacking again.

If it were my truck, I would do some looking on the pulleys first.
