Yesterday i called Scott over at SMI Carb. I purchased a Stage 1 Quadrajet and it should be here within 3 weeks. I'm going to continue driving the truck around in the meantime and recording fuel economy. I think I'm averaging about 10 mpg now. I'll post up the results in a month or so. Thanks for the advice

I thought about doing it myself but with all the stuff going on the timing just isn't right. I need the truck to be operational and not down for more than a day or two.

Yesssss!
Qjet factory equipped, My burb got 15. You could see a bit better if you still have the factory TBI Heads.

The engine is 305 from a 84 so it probably doesn't have the tbi heads. I'm pretty sure I'm going to throw a Eddy Performer Intake on there at the same time. I don't want to spend another $168 on the intake, bolts, and gasket but I need to do the intake gasket either way so I might as well just pony up for it.

Any thoughts on the best intake to go along with the Q-jet? Scott at SMI said it wouldn't make a difference in the jetting either way.

Oh yeah, forgot. should still be decent once you get that q jet set up. Edelbrock or Weiand, holly. Which ever one you choose, at least it wont have the fuel dist. issues like the cast Iron OEM one.
