The ultimate noob finally gets his dream truck - Hello from Joshua Tree

I'm a rock climber from Joshua Tree, CA and I have been dreaming about a square body Suburban for years. The planets finally aligned and I got one last week. It is a 1990 4x4 and it is fuggin awesome! Finally I'm free to explore the desert in confidence and now I can take a bunch of friends with me too.

I have a ton of ideas of what I want to do to the truck like add an auxiliary battery with an inverter, off road lights, new suspension etc. Also there's few things that need fixing such as I have already purchased a refurbished power steering gear box as it is leaking pretty bad.

Admittedly and unfortunately I am a complete noob when it comes to working on cars. Had this same issue when I got my first dirt bike but with the help of forums and Youtube I was able to learn a lot, still a noob though for sure.

Anyway, I've got a lot of questions but I'll save those for later. Just wanted to to say Hi. This is a cool forum and I've already learned a lot here via lurking. Ok enough jibber jabber, here's some pics.

Where did you order a factory roof rack from? When I wanted to add one to my Suburban I looked on ebay and decided I didnt want to pay that much. Luckily a local junkyard had one and I got a pretty good deal on it.
