The drivetrain I've decided on. keep the 396, go with a built 7004, older Corvette IRS. It will have an Airbag suspension as well. I have other "secret mods" that will be cool as hell and make the truck stand out. I can't wait until I can start on it, but again, it will be a while.

Damn I love 55-59 Chevy trucks...if it's anything like your K5 it will be a very nice ride.

ya know, i too have a restomod on the back burner... after looking at that roll pan, its definitely different. personally, if it were my truck and i were in your shoes, i wouldn't remove it. i would rework it into something more modern. that is your dad's handy work, add your touch to it, and it becomes a father son joint effort...

I'll agree with Greasedog on keeping the roll pan, like he said just make it a little more modern, your dad built that I'd leave it.
