That’s adventurous. I have fun random stuff with my cars but none of them have involved a shootout yet

there’s always tomorrow

I mean, I’ve almost died twice in the driver seat of my park avenue but that wasn’t from GSW or anything

It was pretty sketchy... unfortunately to be surpassed in sketchiness MANY times since then. I have finally started having less sketchy things happening now that I'm getting into my 30's :ehcapt:

After that incident I decided that southern California sucked, so I joined the army to get out of there. Went to 6 months of training in Kentucky, then stationed in Germany for 2 months before my first deployment in Iraq. Drove gun trucks, performed track vehicle recovery operations, and spent a month as a loader on an M1 main battle tank for the first free Iraqi elections in 2004. Thankfully that was only a 12 month deployment. Went back for a 15 month deployment in 2006-2008 with 1st Cav during the surge, commanding a gun truck running convoy escort missions in Diyala province in Iraq. Then again in 08-09 with 1st Cav in Mosul, as a track vehicle recovery commander on a little combat outpost. Always loved having the big Ma Duece as the primary weapon :biggun:.

Since this is a truck forum, here's a good video of an M88A2 cold start. 1050hp Air-cooled Twin-turbo V12 Diesel.... thing's an absolute animal. Tops out at about 25mph though:happy175:

Know that drill...went in the Marines at 17 to get away from some ****...Gulf war ended 3 days before I left bootcamp and I ended up in Hawaii in an anti-terrorism detachment responsible for securing compounds and "special" weapon security... nobody really knew what terrorism really meant in 1991..

Funny .50 cal story..we were training one night and platoon commander must have had a hot date because he said we had to blow through all the ordinance we had right quick...we had about 5,000 rounds left for the .50 and I watched the barrel turn clear and rounds pumping through it...surprised it didn't melt really

Oh yeah, hot misfire procedure is there for a reason. I’ve gotten one hot enough during an ambush that it started cooking rounds of as soon as the round got into the chamber... had to let it run away and empty the couple hundred rounds we had in Mark19 ammo can on the side. It gets hot enough so you can see the bullets(or more likely the flame front) traveling down the barrel. It basically welded the barrel into the body and was a complete pain to get out. Warped the barrel and wiped the rifling out of it too... had to toss it in the scrap pile and get some new barrels.
I’ve seen a 240 get enough rounds fired through it to actually have the barrel start drooping and rounds start going out the side. In that kind of situation you hit a point where the gun is so hot it’s running away and you either have to try and break the belt to starve it of ammo and then swap the barrel out and reload, or you just keep sending rounds down range and hope all the bad guys are dead before the barrel completely gives up.
