Temp sensor disconnected

Temp sensor looks to have been melted off and po wrapped it around frame, my gauge doesn’t work on dash guessing this is why,,, so where does the other end go and what kind of fitting/pigtail end would it have?

Also the pic with the ? This thing was by the oil pressure sensor, it has a short L shaped small bar and that black plastic part. Just curious what it is.

I was thinking something like that but wasn’t sure since nothings around it hanging at least right there

Or is this the knock sensor, it’s in front of the starter. I was looking online to see about that plug and saw someone else’s post. If this is a knock sensor, does it need to be hooked back up, if so to where.

I need to find the coolant sensor so it can be hooked up to my temp sensor on my dash, (my gauge doesn’t work as I tested all gauges when I had my gauge cluster out)

On my 305, the sensor is located on the driver side, between the two spark plugs. Green wire is the temp wire. On the 383 Im building, a 87 TBI 350 block, it is located in the same area. But I also seen some on the intake manifold by the themo stat.

Looking at my other pics I see where the green wire goes for the temp, I’ll have to look again but remember seeing the two green wires connected in the middle with a blob,, if gauge isn’t working may the sensor is bad

2nd item is the plug wire holder, originally, they ran under the manifold next to the block.
Yeah sorry it’s not a better pic lol but I cropped it more, probably made it worse,,searching around seems to be the knock sensor

Thanks,, looks like mine is there from looking at my pics, but I’ve got a light green and green wire (I’m being lazy today instead of going out to actually look)

knock sensor is in the block in front of the starter on my 1990 TBI motor. I don't remember the wire color off hand, but it is a single wire. as others posted, temp sensor for the gauge is in between spark plugs 1 and 3. coolant temp sensor for a TBI motor that the ECM uses is next to the thermostat housing.

@plummrey , what temp gauge? Light or gauge ? Each has its own sensor type, ask us how we know……?

It uses a clip type connection. We used shielded connector for fuse box and cut insulation off one side and shrink wrapped it inside some thermal insulated protective sheathing. Works great now..

I guess this explains something wrong, the connector is burned up,,(I see the brighter green wire connects to air compressor and they have the ground wire hanging, my ac-heat don’t work but that’s another day, but the two prong plug for that is a melted too)

Does temp sensor need to be grounded since it’s together with the air compressor?

Ground is for the compressor clutch. Temp sensor itself is a variable ground for the gauge. To check gauge operation ground that wire. Should pin the gauge. If not, bad gauge or circuit.
