Just thought Id ask, what all people have done on here with their TBI motors. Mods, proms, swaps, etc.... from the cheap and quick to the drawn out expensive.

What have you done to make your square even more of a beast?

All I've done so far is the salad bowl mod, second snorkel on the oem air cleaner, msd box & coil, aeromotive 13301 fpr, and a 3" cat back exhaust.

Edit: Forgot about the tbi spacer.

any noticeable difference with ur dual snorkel intake? I was going to do that with mine when i had a carb. I have two carb air housings, i want to see if i can weld one to my TBI housing.

I'm really looking towards a lot of the CFM-Tech products. one thing i have yet to comprehend is adjusting the fuel pressure.

Not so much. It runs really well, but it's still a heavy-ass Suburban trying to get aound on 190 hp at best. More cubes and a custom tune are what is needed to make a truly noticeable improvement.

Longtube headers, K&N filter (just because I can clean it), injector pod spacer, advanced timing, good plugs and wires. I think that's about it. The headers and timing were a good improvement according to the butt dyno.

As far as the snorkle goes, the factory snorkle will supply all the air an engine needs.
But i will admitt, an open element looks better, and sounds cooler lol.

Recommended: 454 TBI Base, Edelbrock performer TBI machined for 2" barrels, Adjustable fuel pressure regulator, CFM-Tech super sucker TB spacer for 454, Heads ported on exhaust side, long tube headers(with Heated 02 sensor) 2 1/2 duals, or 3" single exhaust with straight through type muffler....Just for a start.

454???? For the larger bore? Are you using 350 injectors with that base?

The 454 TB is a different bolt pattern Jim.

Same bolt pattern, I've got a couple. They need a larger bore in the intake and the linkage needs modified if you need a kickdown or TV cable.

ugh. nothing is ever easy :p

What fuel pressures are you guys setting the adjustables to? Id like to add the body spacer and pod spacer.

Then i'm assuming after everyone does their mods, PROM tune?

You can avoid the linkage issues by going with a sbc tb that's been bored to 46mm. Rated at 590 cfm, they will support engines up to 350 hp. But... without a matching intake and spacer (if equipped) the 46mm tb is a waste of time and money.

I have my fpr set at 13 psi. There's no advantage to cranking it up beyond that on a stockish engine. A 383 would need a bit more, around 16-17, depending on the rated hp of the motor.

No prom tuning required for the mods listed. It would be nice to have a custom tune, but not necessary. I wish Jim was a little closer, I could use his help with an engine swap tune.

Yeaaaaaahhhh Buddy! bump the Fuel Pressure to 13...14.5 if you have the CFm-tech spacer, and enjoy. Even better with a custom tune.
