I worked over the tbi in my s10 when I put the 350 in it. I ground off the flange around the openings and added a spacer under the injectors. and a 1 inch spacer between the tbi and intake. and added a power charger to my air cleaner witch eliminated the air breather spacer to let it breath better.

I did not grind down the shaft that seemed like a bad idea. I could see the shaft breaking.

it revs a lot faster accelerates better I definitely can tell the difference.
I don't think it really added any power. just made it more able to use what is already there.

when you grind off the flanges make sure to leave a tab to hold your air breather. I have pics of the tabs I left.

I don't have pictures of the power charger its basically a bowl that goes under the air breather to allow it to breath better

The pod spacer even by itself seems to make a noticeable difference. The motor just seems more lively afterward.

Howdy all, new to this site. I've done plenty of carb work in the past but this is the first I've heard of mods done to the stock TBI unit. I have a 350 in a 87 V30 4 sp dually flatbed truck. Takes several miles to get it up to speed, but it does haul weight fairly well. Would I be losing some of the bottom end grunt (if I can call it that) after shaving the air horns and raining the injectors?
