TBI 350 barely runs after tbi rebuild

Drove the truck to work today, warm idle is occasionally around 600, but usually about 800(I wanted it a little higher for the manual trans) but I’ve still got a really hard gas pedal. It makes driving in low impossible and first is pretty rough if you don’t fully commit. I was working on a barn in a field today with 9 donkeys walking around the truck, I’m sitting there revving the truck up trying to move it because I can’t press the accelerator fluently. I just got home, I’ll let the truck cool off then install the new throttle cable and hope it helps. Is there something I could use to lubricate the throttle body end of the cable? Other than the truck cranking absurdly long, hot or cold, it seems to be running decent.

Usually they don't need any lube. If you feel you must IMHO I'd just use a little powdered graphite, nothing liquid. That would just attract dust and dirt.

Gotcha, it’s just stiff so it’s hard to gradually ease on the throttle in a lower gear. It will start lurching like one of those videos of guys on zero turn lawn mowers slinging themselves back and forth. That’s what the truck will do if it’s idling in low and I try to touch the throttle, because it’s hard to press and you end up giving it too much throttle

They make cable lube. Its generally used for things like motorcycle throttle cables. Its silicone and doesn't attract dust or debris. There are several kinds. Motion pro makes some good stuff and a tool to make sure it gets all the way through the cable. There is also some graphite type stuff called dry-lube

I like graphite lube because it stays around. But If you have an air compressor you can try blowing something liquid through it.

I have a brand new cable if that’ll help but if I can salvage this one that would be preferred. It moves smoothly once you get it moving but the very beginning is stiff. It’s better than before but still rough

Are you sure that there's not a bend in it before the carb? Mine did and it made the throttle stiff and not retun well when you let off. Adjusted the bracket and got rid of the bend and it works fine now.

I’ll have to look closer to make sure it’s straight in line with the linkage, it’s decent after it moves it’s just getting it to move in the beginning. Between the hard throttle pedal and the hydraulic clutch always giving me issues, it makes it hard to drive slow through a field with nine donkeys walking around me
