tank selctor valve

So I have the body off the frame of my 87 k20. Just starting to mock things up before the frame goes out to be blasted and painted. The 350 tbi is being replace with a 454 multi port fuel injected unit. I'm trying to track down a tank selector valve that can handle the high pressure that the new fuel pumps will put out. I believe the tbi valve is rated around 20 psi. Looking to locate a selector valve that can handle 65 psi. Just thinking someone out there has done a similar conversion and knows which valve I can cross reference. Would an 87 diesel selector valve be rated at a higher psi?
Any input would be a big help in moving this project along.

May have to see about using one from a 90-95 ford as they had dual tanks and MPI. If your MPI has a fuel return you may need to wire and plumb 2 switches 1 for return or you could pump one tank dry by returning to the other tank. Thats not necessarily a problem as long as the other tank isnt full or you could create and overflow condition.

The ACDelco valve works up to 65PSI I believe that's what I am replacing on my 350 now. My "Standard Motor Parts" one **** out on me, I think. Anyways it sounds like that'd be pushing it if you want all of 65.

Yep. 65psi sticker right on the valve on my new ACDelco one. I'm running it on my LS swapped truck with dual tanks and Walbro 255LPH pumps. Works great. Just need to buy one for an 87 TBI truck.

Whether it is called a U7000/U7001 (new AC Delco), FV 5 (Standard Motor Products), 8F1312 (Airtex), FSV2A/K (Wells/Borg-Warner) or any of the many other models, you can be sure it will be made overseas. Only Pollak valves are still made in the US.

AC Delco used to buy Pollak brand switching valves for GM trucks. They would just tack the Delco name on the valve, but the body casting showed Pollak and the GM OEM part number. Here is what the valves looked like when AC Delco was buying them off Pollak ( model 42-159) and selling them as a genuine GM part:

Now AC Delco has cut Pollak out of the loop and gets them manufactured off-shore - for way less money. They can't call them by the GM part number anymore - they call them a U7000/U7001.

Anyway, no matter which you pick, they will all be rated at 65 psi. What's funny is, you can pick up a genuine Pollak 42-159 for about $60 or even cheaper. VSS has them listed for $48:

I don't know that this is 100% true. My U7000 ACDelco selector valve that I bought a few months ago has the Pollak stamp on it and was manufactured in the USA.

Yes, agreed. I think there are still some out there that were boxed up during Delco's transition away from Pollak and the elimination of the GM part number. Here is one for example. It has the Pollak name embossed on the switch casing but no GM part number on the end of the motor casing - and is sold by AC Delco as a U7000.

I have to admit, the whole story about the break-up was told to me real quick (by an engineer at Pollak) and honestly, half of it went in one ear and out the other. I did get the impression however that there were some bad feelings at the end.

Hope I didn't come across as doubting or anything with my post, just re-read it and it sounded a bit crass. I might just be lucky in that mine was still a Pollak manufactured valve.

Oh heck no. If anything, I felt guilty - repeating a story about which I was unsure of all the details.
