The Sniper on the other hand turned out to be the biggest piece of **** ever sold...but that's another story.

Was thinking of getting the Sniper EFI system for the 454 / MT... perhaps a separate post for EFI conversion and your experience?

This may sound odd, but where is the fuel regulator with the new Holly fuel injection setup ?

With the older truck the fuel tank switch and valve probably wont have the power wire for the intank pumps to switch correctly. You would either need to wire that in to correct the issue or swap to the blazer tank under the rear of the bed.

Yes you can do that, its exactly what I did. Every thing brand new from rock auto was like $204 but I have a single tank so it would be double for you to do both.

So I got my new 87 tanks, sending units and EP381 pumps installed with the u7001 selector valve and everything is working great! My only issue is the wiring diagrams called for a 6 terminal switch. I picked one up but it is 2x the size of the original and is currently just hanging out of the dash. My question is can I get away with a 4 terminal switch or can anyone recommend a 6 terminal switch that would fit better in a square? Thanks!

Nevermind... got the 4 terminal switch working. Just having to do a bit of modification to get it to be flush on the dash.

For guys who want to go for a factory look I have the dual tank LSx/EFI conversion harnesses. Also, this eliminates power routing through the dash switch as well. Individual LH/RH pump control and upgraded wiring.

With 65 psi valve and switch $309 or $239 w/o. Kit includes underdash control section and chassis section all the way to valve and both pump leads.

For anyone going down this path below is what I did with help from member Bleux and others for my 1977 K10. Prices below are as of today from RockAuto.

2 - ACDELCO EP381 {#25163473} (Pumps) - $57.79 ea.
2 - SPECTRA PREMIUM GM11C {#471681} (Tanks w/ Lock Rings) - $76.69 ea.
1 - SPECTRA PREMIUM FG05N {#25090837} (Passenger Side Sending Unit) - $73.79
1 - SPECTRA PREMIUM FG05M {#19179694, 25090846} (Drivers Side Sending Unit) - $66.99
1 - ACDELCO U7001 {#12336291} (Fuel Selector Valve) - $77.79
1 - STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS DS1807 {#15599081, 19244972, D7089C} (Tank Selector Switch) - $9.37
2 - Filler hoses to fit 1987 tanks - Can't find the part number

Notes:
  • Had to make a slight modification to reduce the 87 filler hose to the 77 filler neck
  • Used the sniper pump power lead to power the switch so my selected pump only runs until prime is finished before I start it up
  • Had to make modifications to the back of the selector switch to fit in the dash and be flush
  • Shouldn't have purchased the full Sniper kit as I'm no longer using the inline pump
  • Looks completely stock

What is the sump doing when it gets hot? Pump stops? Pressure drops? Idle surges?

I have their E-street TBI unit with the remote sump mounted on the passenger side between the headlight and the radiator. Haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary so far. Planning on changing out the TBI to the Pro-flo4 in the next year.

Of course your summertime temps and mine are quite different. And once it hits 90 here I don't drive the truck much (no AC or tinted windows)

Cooking the sump/pump, vaporizing the fuel making hit starts hit or miss.
