On January 17, 2025, my 1987 Chevy Silverado SWB was stolen, 12 noon, right out of the parking lot of the government building where I work. Security was not alert and our cameras are too old to zoom close enough to get a tag or facial recognition. The good news is that our Capitol Police found it the next day. The bad news is that all they found was the stripped cab. Picture attached.

This sucks. I am heartbroken over it to say the least but I've embraced the suck and recovered enough to start looking for another '87 SWB. So email me if you have something or know of one for sale.

A word to the wise, put a kill switch and a GPS locator on your vehicles. Don't take the chance of thinking someone doesn't want it or it's too ratty to steal. Someone is watching you. Someone near you wants your truck. Believe me. My false sense of feeling it was safe allowed this to happen. Don't let it be you!

:welcome: sort of. Sucks that happened. How much are you willing to spend? What kind of condition? How far are you willing to travel?

Ah that sux. My '73 was stolen off the street a half-block away from me last year. For some insane reason, they abandoned it 21 miles away, a half-mile from WHERE I WORK. Only damage was a busted window and ignition lock. And the $600 towing and storage charge from Los Angeles ($240 tow, $260 for 25hrs storage, $100 misc F-U fees.) I got very lucky.

Thieves suck. Sorry to hear about your truck. Hope you find a good replacement.

After reading these posts yesterday I went out this morning and carefully did a couple minor but invisible things on the big blue Suburban which means it won't start until they are undone.
