My ignition switch is getting sticky.

Any recommendation for a lube or spray of some kind that will smooth it out?

Thanks in advance.

Does it stick on retuning from crank or is it just sticky overall?
The gease for the rack gear can get gummy also the switch down on the column can get sticky. I would clean the switch itself with CRC electronic cleaner/lube. Thats good stuff for all the switches in these old girls. You may also want to pull the lock cylinder out and get some good lube in in the rack and pinion gears for the linkage.

It's pretty much sticky the whole way through. After cranking I have to pull it back.

Also, my accessory position does nothing either. To get my radio to come on I have to move it to the ignition position, but then that turns my fuel pump on, which I don't want to do.

Tilt column? Untilt it. I had mine tilted and it was sticky. Made it pretty much perpindicular to the column and it turns very easy after that. Couldn't hurt to do what the others have suggested too.

Yeah no tilt for me. I'll open it up this weekend if I have time.

Sounds like it might need to be adjusted as well as cleaned up. The mounting holes are slots.

Yes, I had thought that, and I know where that is on the column, but I don't understand how it works. What exactly does moving the part up and down do at the key?

There is a rod that connects between the rack gear and the switch on the column. I had one break once. That was fun!
