Starting to make a list of parts that I need to keep an eye out for when I hit the U-pull its. Can anyone tell me if the fuel fillers are different from the early fleetside and the stepsides? I picked up a stepside box for my K10, but it doesn't have the fuel fillers in it. Will the fillers from my fleetside work? They are both the round cap style, not the ones with the fuel doors.

Stepside fillers are different. Nobody makes new ones, so you have to fab/cobble them yourself.

One other question, are the right and left sides the same?

If anyone has any pics of some they modified, I would appreciate them (or if you have some fillers to sell, let me know).

I didn't think about the fuel tanks, but I assume they are the same?

I am starting to clean up the stepside bed and would like to swap it out this spring.

I believe right and left are the same. The tanks are the same, regardless of bed or side. Only thing is a short bed can't fit the 20 gallon tanks, they're too long.

Now my neighbor who is an old-school mechanic suggested the local Ford dealership for the filler necks. He told me they have properly rated tubing that could be used so you may be able to get a chunk from a dealership that you could cut to size.

Also just a thought, you might be able to get a chunk of radiator hose to work, though I have no idea how that would hold up to gas. So do some research before trying that.

I'm glad the tanks are the same, kind of figgured they would be. I have a couple of fleetside fillers, I will see if I can modify them or find something off another vehicle that might work,
I'll try the Ford dealer. Until I mount the stepside bed I wont really know what I need.

The two different sides should be different fillers. The tank outlet size changed in the early 80's sometime.

When I put my step bed on, I used a portion of the original filler and a portion of a formed radiator hose, with a steel adapter sleeve. I never expected the radiator hose to hold up to the gasoline fumes, but it's been 5 or 6 years and still going strong.

The fleetside fillers I have are about the same year, 77 or 78. I have a little while to figure something out, want to rebuild the bed before I mount it. Guess Ill hit the junkyards here, and around Nashville, Tn when I go down there in a couple of weeks.
