stepside fender repair?

Ok, got back with the stepside bed and got to look it over really well, nothing seems real bad except for the passenger side rear fender. Where the top of the fender bolts to tbe bedside, is there any way to repair the lip the bolts go through? I found a couple pics of other fenders for referance.

What is the issue with the lip? Rusted or cracked?

Mostly rusted, might be able to salvage some of it but looks to me once I unbolt it , it will hardly have any of that lip left. Will have to get pics, I had some but somehow they weren't saved to my phone

Just have to cut/weld/reconstruct. Or buy new ones.

That's what my toughts were, just wasn't sure if the sheet metal would hold up to welding. New federswiuld work but I'm scared to get them and they dnt match up well...kind of a catch 22
