Well I totally lucked out and found a mostly complete stepside bed for my truck about 3hrs away from me! Supposed to pick it up tomorrow barring any unforeseen circumstances. From the pics I got it looks really well kept and still has wood in it but will most likely be replaced eventually. Just needs a tailgate and some taillights and it's complete, only down side is my truck is dual tanks and this bed only has the passenger side fuel door also I either have to buy a different fender with the drivers side fuel door or modify it, or the easier route just eliminate a tank. We shall see, but for only 300.00 I think this is a killer deal!

Damn good score especially for a 73-80 bed. FWIW, I never used the dual tanks on my 82, I never totally trusted the switch valve and didn't want to have to turn the truck around at the pump to fill the other tank. I actually was planning on removing it. Hell new trucks only have 21 gal tanks compared to the 16 gal single. This might be a good time to do a 24 gal blazer tank conversion.

Only thing I do is fill one tank up and use it till it is almost empty, then fill other side up. I don't do a ton of long hauls so I'm thinking either swap it like ya said or just put in a fuel cell and call it done. But we shall see, if I can score a drives side with fuel door I'll go that route.

Great find...better than trying to replace the bed in sections.

Yeah definitely! The funny thing about this bed I found is it is this dark brown primer color. I had painted the inside of my stepside bed with a dark brown wood stain and the outsides were a dark brown with metal flake. My first truck looked almost exactly like this pic except mine had a slider window, no chrome sidestep, and had a snap in bed cover.

Ok were back with the new bed, the wood was worse than the pics showed but that was to be expected, questions I have now is how is the best way to clean up the floor supports, wire wheel and drill? And one of the bedsides needs some reinforcement up where it bolts to the bedside, anyone have any tips on replacing the metal where the bolts go through the top of the bedside?
