Steering wheel reassemble.

Hello yall i trusted a friend to put a lock switch in and he stripped my stud for the steering and broke my two retaining clips probally bent the lock plate. My question is since im doing the reassemble is would a slightly bent lock plate work and also putting the retaining clip on would i slip it on before the lockplate plate install tool is on because theres no way after the tool is on. Any help would be great.

You will want to get the lock plate hammered straight again. Just slide the clip onto the lock plate tool before installing the tool. Then slide the clip down onto the steering shaft.
