Steering system parts names?

maybe my google-fu is crap, but i can't seem to find anything that describes or puts a name to the steering system used on these trucks! I don't know proper names of the parts so I'm sure that isn't helping one bit.

I have a 1986 K10 (1500, who knows what right?) i just want a good picture with the names of the components. bonus points if i can get a description of what each does!

also common parts that need replacement and those that really don't would be great too!

I like learning which is part of why i bought this truck, in good with modern stuff, but not older stuff. I will check my Chilton book when i get home, but forgot to bring it to work today. Vaguely remember from auto class in high school but that was 15 years ago.

Anyway, not looking to re-engineer it, just learn the parts and functions to help me trouble shoot what is bad or needs to be replaced.

what is the u part called that goes from the knuckle to the connecting rod?
