If you haven't put it back together yet put some anti seize on it first
it will help next time you have to take it apart

On stuff like that, I've mostly just used a BFH held against the top side of the tie bar over where the offending taper goes through and smack it with another BFH on the bottom side. Several smacks and it usually pops it out. Mostly just did that to tie rod ends when I didn't have a pickle fork around.
