I have an 83 k2500 that the steering seems to bind or lock up. When driving down the road it will pull a little the left and bind and then release pulling the ftruck to the right. New pump, box, stabillizer, wheel bearings and shocks. It has been at he garage and they are puzzled. They have check out the front end and cant find anything wrong. Any ideas? I need help. I am new to the forum and really need to get fixed. Thanks Tom

No mechanic here, but it seems to me that if everything from box down has been replaced or checks out, go up from there..... rag joints, steering shaft column?

2" lift 285 tires. problem did not start until pump went out in spring, replaced and had problem off and on since took pump back and replaced. still had problem so i took to garage. Thought about column and shaft but hate to just start replacing parts but might not have much choice. Thanks Tom

Just went through a 84 cj7 repalced everything from steering column to lock outs. Thought this a much bigger job did not want to spend the money on heavier tools to do the job but if the garage is just going to replace parts until it is fixed I might as well do that.

I been hearing horror stories here from a few members of new steering pumps being installed and being bad right out of the box, something to keep in mind.

could be a bad steering box but also check that your front calipers arent jamming or binding up on you had the same issue and had a hose collapse and the caliper was hanging up causing a pull to one side. just something to check. if youve already went through the normal steering intervals.

If your drag link angle is good I would blame the (more than likely Chinese remanufactured) steering box.

i don't have a bind but my lifted (6 in. rc) K10 wanders but ik why cause my tires are wider then stock when driving on seal coated roads or even older asphalt that have been sunk in where a typical vehicle tire would be i just ride it out but in your case that's puzzling
