I just bought my 84 K20. The steering column was loose and it was the common 4 bolts needing to be tightened and loc-tite applied. I did that but in the process the inner and out steering wheel bearings came out. One of them was damaged. I am in the process of trying to put them back in but it's been a pain. The bearings are in pieces and the balls are only held in by grease. I've left the wiring on the column attached and have the steering sector where the turn signal switch and ignition tumbler are attached to the wiring as well. All of this is hanging loosely. I'm having a hard time putting the bearings back in and getting them to stay in place so I can put the pivot pins and everything else back together. Does anyone have a good method or re-assembly of these? Also, is there some type of aftermarket one piece bearing that I could use in place or cross reference a one piece bearing? These are extremely aggravating. Any help is appreciated.

What I ended up doing is buying a column rebuild kit which had new bearings and then bought bearing and race installer. Worked like a charm

Welcome to GMSB.

I'm almost certain the only way to get those bearings is to buy the column rebuild kit.

Thanks for the help and the welcome. I did end up buying a rebuild kit. The new bearings were still a pain to install but I did a little polishing on them and got them in. Appreciate it guys.

Well the way he’s trying, you’d think he has the Arc of the Covenant
Maybe so and it just so happens that's what I'm looking for. On the plus side, you have accomplished your goal! Congratulations!

At least it was an actual post this time. But now I'm curious where the kit was bought too.

Lol, and what he wants to sell.
