Has anyone looked into swapping to a faster ratio box than what our trucks come with?

2wd or cross over steering I’d use a Grand Cherokee box. I put one on my Chevelle it was awsome and cheap lol this goofy stock set up not to sure of an OEM type swap but I think I seen somebody makes one, but then again I’m not sure how quick you’d want a lifted truck to turn, might get twitchy. If that makes sense.

It does make sense but right now it 90* turn on the wheel is a lane change, 90* on the wheel in my vette and dd and that is a serious turn. I have no intention of lifting the truck anymore, if anything I have been tempted to remove the lift.

I've heard of the late G Body being the best in terms of GM, and I've heard of the 1993-98 XJ Cherokee being another option. I don't know how that would all fit, though. I've never done a side by side comparison of different Saginaw boxes.

Grand Cherokee is the close ratio box pretty much a easier to attain ZQ8 box that will fit pretty much anything.

Ahh, I gotcha. Are you talking about the box from a 93-98 ZJ Grand Cherokee?

In 2wd, some years of Dodge trucks are also swap in and closer ratio. Not sure about 4x4 though. Maybe @RetroC10Sport would be able to find that out.

They are pricey, but AGR boxes are great. A few years ago I converted a 66 C10 to a 68-74 AGR quick ratio box, and it was simply awesome! Not only was it quicker (even than a 68-74 factory auto box) the on-center feel is what you'd expect in a new Camaro or Mustang. In other words, you feel a little resistance when you start to turn the wheel.

Here are their 4WD applications: http://www.steerco.com/category-s/159.htm

I guess they are pretty limited on the boxes on lmc. One for 73 to 76 only and the other 73 to 79 both 2 wheel drive. So I was wrong I seen them and assumed they where for the 73 to 87

Check out Rock Auto. Reman AC Delco for $130 + $125 core charge.

However, shipping charges both ways are not gonna be cheap.

For a quick ratio box, I'd personally look at Summit and Jegs to see their prices for an AGR box. It will be the best part on your truck, assuming your steering and suspension components are up to par.
