Hello folks. For those that recall, I was here last summer asking for assistance identifying the truck I eventually bought. It is titled as a 1984 C20. After taking several pictures, talking with the seller, and several people on this forum we came to the agreement that from factory this is a C20 SRW, however, sometime in its early life it was converted to a DRW truck.

With that being said. My question is in regards to SRW/DRW rear axle. Wear they the same? Different lengths? Are hubs the same and did all duallies come with a DRW adapter? This is what I'm working with below. I'm hoping to do Aloca wheels and use a 8 to 10 lug adapter, which would require me to add that to this. Adapter to adapter? Or is this standard for DRW trucks? Is there a totally different axle available?

Thanks for all your help! Look forward to learning as much as I can throughout this build process.

I haven't had a dually since the early 90's, but mine did not have those adapters. GM used a retainer ring similar to the one pictured below and used conical lug nuts. Second picture is a GM dually brake drum and hub.

Here's a thread I found that has some general info for you regarding 14 bolts and hubs.

Your truck probably had an arrowcraft kit done on it.

I agree, looks like Arrowcraft spacers.

A square body dually pick up would have a 74” wide D70HD, a dually cab & chassis would have a 63” wide 14 bolt.

SRW pick ups had a couple of axles available - an 80’s light duty 3/4 ton would have a semi floater 14 bolt. Heavy duty 3/4 tons and 1 tons use full floater 14 bolts with differences in shock and spring perch placement as well as different size brake packages. These would all be 69” wide.

Do NOT use an adapter on an adapter , this is a recipe for failure.
