Is the steering gear from an 87 pickup equal to a quick ratio steering gear. I would like to put one in my 1970.

Sooner or later I'll finish my crossover steering project and get a 2wd steering box.

I've tried NAPA/O Reilly's auto rebuilds. Never again.

Anyone have any words of wisdom about where to buy a great quality steering box?

I thought about PSC steering- but they want something like $500+

I've recently heard about Red Head steering gears and they are a much better price (about 1/2 PSC).

Any other options out there?

I put in a 2wd box from Napa. Am I going to regret it? I did the XJ shaft swap. What was your negative experience? If I go to PSC I'm getting hydro assist.

Both of the boxes from NAPA and O Reilly auto didn't really work right out of the box. One was all bound up, the other one leaked fluid from all the seals. I just have that sort of luck.

I’ve heard good things about redhead

We gotta replace the box and shaft in the K10 soon

Lots of slop in the steering
Looks like most of it is in the box

But, if I ever have to change it, it will be.

Man, THAT SUCKS. Thats nothing but a :flame::flame::flame: redo that sucks anyway. There's nothing easy about it the first time, but the second and third needless replacement .......?

We had a real hard time with Ford & Dodges. We quit putting on anything but Borgeson power steering products. Good Luck
