New fluid and filter in my 700r4 this morning and when I dropped the pan this little spring was stuck to the magnet. It had a fair amount of metal stuck to it so I think it may have been there for a while but no way to know.

Anyone know where it goes?

You'd think if it was the detent spring that trans would be toast. But it does look very similar.

Thank you but that spring is in place. Couldn't figure it out so I put it back together and it shifts great so I'm just going to run with it.
