Yes, very possible. It's also possible you didn't properly secure it, didn't plug it in all the way, it's come loose, etc...

The fact that it cuts off when you move the column points to something being out of whack there either with the switch or the wiring in the column.

I’ll be able to check it out tomorrow and tinker with it some.
