I don’t normally drive my truck in the winter, but I needed to today. While the engine started instantly in the 8 degree weather, the rest of the truck wasn’t happy!
Problem #1: the blower motor screams when it’s cold. Fortunately, that didn’t last long.
Problem number 2: the speedometer HOWLS when it’s cold. It has always bounced around a little (even after cleaning and lubing the cable) but I have never seen a speedometer react to the cold like this! Before I even made it out of my neighborhood, the speedometer had wrapped itself around past the 85mph, sll the way around to the 35mph point. As the truck/speedo warmed up, it eventually settled down again.
My question: was a speedo with trip odometer ever offered in these trucks? I seem to recall reading where someone adapted a speedo from a similar year van.
Just curious.
