Hi Guys,
I need to replace the HVAC switch for my C60 air conditioning system.
Anyone know a source for this switch that doesn't want $200-$300? Ugh!
I've found used ones priced very reasonable but I really want to go new on this one if I can.
Appreciate any and all input.
Cheers, Greg

You can take those things apart, clean them, apply new grease and they are as good as new.

Mine is a '79 so it doesn't have the extra wire, but I think the guts are the same.

Hmmm?
Maybe I'll give it try. Mine is leaking vacuum and won't make the proper transfers to the hoses.

Well, it was pretty dry. Cleaned it , re-greased it, all back together now. Just waiting for the epoxy to dry and I'll give it a test!
Yeah they're pretty simple mechanisms, not a lot that can make them irreparable unless you completely crushed or melted the thing. Hopefully that's all you need to do for another 30+ years of service lol

I did the same thing with my reverse light switch on my 1981 C10 three on the tree.... would only work in certain positions of the shifter. Couldn’t find a new one anywhere. Took it apart and cleaned and regressed with die electric grease, been working great.

^ These responses and knowledge are what makes this a great place!
Hadn't considered it and hopefully don't need to for a while (ever), but now I know they can be "rebuilt."

****!
No luck. Let the switch set up overnight. Fired up the truck this morning and hooked up the vac plug top the switch before re-installing. Worked it through all positions and nothing moved. Same problem as before. However, if I jumper each position on the plug with a vacuum line from the plug's vacuum source, all positions move as they're supposed to. There is something wrong with this switch.

Ugh!
I'm getting something wrong here and having trouble deciding what the real problem is. I used this vacuum schematic for 1977 K20 with C60 HVAC.

It clearly shows the vac connector port numbers:

1-Gray
2-Tan
3-Blue
4-Orange
5-Black

But when I look at my factory vac plug with all the hoses still in their factory spots and then check the corresponding numbers molded on the switch I have:

3-Blue
4-Black
5-Orange
6-Tan
9-Gray

Anybody happen to have one of these apart right now? What the heck am I missing? My truck HVAC system looks completely stock but does not match up at all with the schematic.
Cheers, Greg

The illustration on that schematic looks like 80's with the rotational type vacuum switch.

When you had yours apart, did you take out the little slidey vacuum plate doohickey?

Yes I did. Took a pic, made sure it went back in the same way.
I agree, the vac connector in this schematic looks like it's for a different truck.

This guy sells re-conditioned ones. FYI part # 362590 was superseded by #470333. The second link is for his ebay listing. Says it's the last one.

Classic Industries says they have one coming soon, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I've been waiting a year for a tailgate band.

Thanks Craig.
I bit the bullet and bought the NOS switch on eBay for $175.

My '87 doesn't blow throught the defroster, so I gotta figure that out also. I did swap the heater control, but to no avail. It looks like all hoses & wires are there & correct, just won't blow air to the windshield.
