At least with the twist on connectors, you can easily disconnect stuff lol. As for the light switches, that's probably for heater control. I'm surprised there isn't a dimmer switch for fan speed control. Probably too expensive.

You know the funny thing is I built a mock-up keyfob entry for a truck about 12 years ago when I worked on low voltage/fire alarm installs. I took a Kantec card access system and I installed the 12V battery back-up system to run off a switch source to lock/unlock the door actuators via a programmed keyfob I setup. It was way overkill as its a commercial unit that we demo'd out and I re-purposed it just to see if I could make it work. Cool thing is I could program it to keep track off whose fobs were used if I programmed multiple fobs, set times for it to be active/inactive, etc. Feasibly it could also be tied to a surveillance camera inside to automatically record once it recognized a breach. There were many ground outputs that could then be used as a dis/able feature too.

So yeah....I have done my own "non automotive" electrical mods but they were done as a "lets just see if this would work" type thing...but nothing ghetto like what I posted....made me laugh tho!

Bought a house once with a lamp cord running into a bedroom through an outside wall and plugged into a bedroom outlet. Turns out it was a timer for the swimming pool pump.

I can just imagine the horrors, lol. Been an industrial electrician for 18 years through power plants and sawmills, think I've only encountered three electricians that really knew what they were doing, most even with a license can barely understand the code book or even care. In the mill i'm at now, been sorting out and re-doing previous electard messes here for the last 4 years with no end in sight. Basic job security for sure.

The work quality was pretty good but he had sourced most of the wire from scrap. Wherever a repair had been made, or a circuit added, the wire could be anything. The knob and tube stuff was still in the attic!
