smog pump??? how would I find out if my truck had one?

It could be ignition related and have nothing to do with the pump or injection.

Plugs, wires, cap and rotor bad distributor, coil. The first thing I would do with a bad running engine is tune it up and work from there.

Could be a vacuum leak from the intake manifold. Lightly spray either around the intake manifold. It's a good way to find a vacuum leak.

Could be weak fuel pressure too.
