Smaller steering wheel

I just read a thread about a larger steering wheel and got me to thinking.

I just put a manual transmission in my truck and the extra room wouldn’t hurt, but I want the wheel to look period correct.

Anyone know of any 70s-80s GM vehicles that used a 13-14” steering wheel or an aftermarket one designed to look like something OE from that era? I don’t want anything post square, so no gmt400 etc...

I am about to do a late 60's vette steering wheel. It's not alot smaller but is and inch or so smaller diameter. To me they still look period correct. Same with the 3 spoke comfort grip steering wheel.

What kind of style are you looking for? 3 or 4 spoke? Steel spokes or full molded plastic/rubber? Leather wrapped? Imitation leather wrapped?

There's a whole bunch of possibilities that are GM and around 14".

I might like other gm stuff from or before this era, just not sure where to start looking as far as what will bolt up without an adapter.

Camaros ran this steering wheel from 70 1/2 to '81. About $250-$275 for a new one. I ran one in my '80 3+3. You can see from the photo this one is in a 67-72 Chevy truck.

I run one of those in my '79 that is non-tilt. It's pretty nice. GM actually used them in other cars too, like Monzas and Chevettes too I believe. Mine actually came from an '87 Cavalier station wagon, of all things.

I dug up pictures of my other favorite GM wheels that are of a smaller diameter. I've used them in various cars and trucks and I think the look "fits".

^Those ones are still not too hard to find, but many of them have degraded and went soft on the rim. They still look normal, they just feel very cushy. Iirc, they are also used in mid 80's Cavalier Z24's and RS's, but with a different horn button. The button can easily be swapped with many other GM designs.

Then there's the '82-'89 Z28/IROC wheel that is leather wrapped:

^Those ones are a real bear to find used and in good condition, but a fella named Chuck Pelton does a superb job of restoring them for a reasonable fee and often has them available for purchase without a core. The one pictured was restored by him. It has held up great for the last 12 or so years too.

It is a smaller wheel based on what Animal was talking about above- a 60's Corvette.
