i did my NV4500 swap on my 83' K20 back in 2008, the chevy NV4500 has the same input shaft size as the SM465 (1 1/8" x10 spline), as for the bellhousing i used one from Advance Adapters (about $300) , it allows you to use your factory clutch linkage ,or get their slave cyl bracket and go to hydraulic clutch as i did with mine, it was a bit of $ to pull it off, but it is one of the mod's i've made to my truck in the 11 years i've owned it, any ?'s on this swap feel free to ask , i've done a few of these swaps, on chevy and dodge trucksWell i heard of this swap but what mods do i need to do because i don't think it would be just a trans swap and be done.
I have a 14 bolt FF rear it is 2wd. 1975 c30 w/dual rear tires
2 piece drive shaft it has carrier bearing and splined coupling that moves in and out with alamite fitting.
my truck has a mechanical clutch set up not sure how it would respond to the nv4500.
i don't know how many splines there is on a sm465 input shaft and i don't know what splines the nv4500 has
i don't know if i would have to swap a clutch for a different one for it to work.
don't know if the nv4500 would bolt to the old bellhousing.
