I searched but could not find the answers to this question.
i have a sm465 behind my 5.3 ls engine in my 1979 short bed chev.
I really want to swap that out and put in a muncie car four speed .
I dont know what bell housing i have but I know it did not come behind the LS.
I have read the older truck bell housing has a 5 1/8 hole for the bearing retainer to seat.( I beleive that is the bell housing I have but need to drop the trans to verify that)
In order to make the truck bell housing work it needs an adaptor ring so the bearing retainer seats properly.
Is that right ?
any knowledge of this swap would be helpful
