Go with what you can get cheap. It's said the NP241 is a hair better. Not sure if that's just the hair deeper L ratio or if it does indeed have a bigger bearing, but it's minimal so if you can score an NP208 for cheap, I'd go for it.

The 208's I've had have all treated me well.

Thank you all once again for all the answers, now if one of you all could just tell me the secret to making millions of dollars without working that would be great.

let me get this straight, you are trading out an SM465 and NP205 for a 4L60 and a 2xx transfers case. I guess we all have our own way of doing things. highdesertranger

I swapped a 350 & 465 and 205 for a LS 5.3 NV3500 and 208

For a daily driver the 465 sucks

Agreed, the 465 to me is hard to live with on a daily basis. I don't tow, no need for the super low granny gear. I drive highway most of the time, and plan on taking my truck on power tour next year though work.

I just ran my truck along the highway the other day for the first time with its 465.
I found out that 4th gear is my 25mph to 85mph gear.
I just would like an overdrive for freeway driving.
Other than that, it will keep my son from getting to far outta line when he drives the truck.

85mph..... at 65 I'm turning 3200rpm+, but I have 4.56 gears also.

Yup.
Sounds like the gearing in my VW, 3500 rpm for 65-70....

But my truck has the 3:73's in the rear.
So it is not so bad, not good, but still not bad.

Taller tires is the cheap way to fix that
