Sm465 shift forks

I recently bought a 1985 k20 with an sm465 that wouldn’t go into 3rd or 4th. I tore it down thinking the synchros were gone and to my surprise I found the 3-4 shift fork broken clean in half. I was planning on rebuilding the whole trans with bearings, synchros, etc. but everything else looks brand new on the inside. Any suggestions as to where I should buy the shift forks? I plan on replacing them all.

Transmissionpartsdistributors.com make sure which top cover you have steel or aluminum. I’m pretty sure it makes a difference they have both and since you have the top cover off I would put a top cover kit in it. I just re-did mine and it was fairly easy and also they have free shipping in the US. Good luck to you

For a full rebuild kit including the anti hop out (2nd gear L,1,2,3 ) 3rd gear mod go to Novak, but invest in the Felpro gasket kit.

The selector forks have a plastic like coating on them at the ends that engage with the hubs. That needs to be intacked.

Oh here is a video for fork rebuilds. Be warned springs and ball bearings dont loose them! Lol
