Sm465 not shifting

I recently had my clutch replaced. After a couple trips between sd and mn i started having problems shifting. Now i cant shift at all. Clutch feels normal though. To shift into reverse i need to actually turn the truck off. While driving i cant shift with out float shifting. And even then its a crap shoot. Im hoping the syncros havent gone out. But if i remember correctly reverse isnt even synchronized. If i press the clutch in reverse it almost feels like the clutch isnt fully disengaging. Having to float shift isnt a huge deal to me i do it anyway. I hope the trans isnt toast

When stuff like that happens, the first place I always look is where something was done last. An easy way to see where the clutch disengages is park on a hill with the motor off and in 1st and slowly push in the pedal and see where you start to roll forward at. If it barely moves, either clutch linkage is out of adjustment or something is wrong with the pressure plate. Not gospel, just past trouble shooting method when I wasn't sure how else to do it other than take **** back apart.

Throw out bearing installed correctly? Clutch linkage adjusted properly?

99% sure its not the 4sp, pretty much indestructible. Only issue I've ever had was one of the shifter pins fell into the case. It wouldn't shift at all.

How do i check the throwout bearing? I didnt do the clutch i thought u was being thrifty by paying a handyman to do it instead of the shop. But the shop wanted 1100 to do it. Guess i got my 400 worth of headaches from the handyman

on a hydraulic, all you ever need to do is bleed it on ones iv'e worked on. Might check the bolts on the slave and make sure they are not starting to back out.

I would deffently look at the hydraulic system ... trans and clutch should be fine ... dose it jurk if you try to start it in gear with clutch in?

Yes it does its worse in reverse

Then it's in you hydraulic system ... your not getting enough throw ... ... check the slave and master for leaks you got air in it some where... you need it sealed and rebleed and you'll be rocking and rolling agian

Thats what i was hoping, i havent had the time to mess with it because of the move. I guess ill get my lazy ass out there and mess with it tomorrow now that i opened my mouth about it.

With the new clutch / pressure plate you're going to have more spring force resistance. Therefore the pressure against the master and slave seals will be greater.

If they haven't been changed since '87 I'd bet there's your problem.

You'd be best off changing both the slave and master instead of just seals and flush the entire system.

Those went out on me when i first bought the truck. I replaced both at the same time 3 years ago.

So i got under the beast today. The clutch fork isnt engaging the throwout bearing it seems. I can move it back and forth by hand and the slave is fully extended. The clutch fork is very wobbly as well with alot of play in and out as well. Im hoping this is a simple fix and i dont need to drop the tranny.
