Those $69 distributors are cheap for a reason. Of course you can always buy a spare, like many Skip W. proponents say they do. Heck even a stock GM HEI will last for 20 years or more with, of course, a new cap and rotor once in a while..

So this raises a queston for me, if im replacing a regular hei distributor with an hei 65k supercoil distributor do i need anything special?

No you don't. Should be that it has a stronger coil and produce a bigger spark. If I'm wrong someone will let us know but, when I bought mine I just dropped it in place of the old one.

I would check to make sure the power wire to the coil is in good shape and supplying the proper voltage to the dizzy.

Probably will need to widen the gap on the spark plug, check with the seller or manufacturer.

Be wary of vendors hyping coil voltage. Heck you can generate thousands of volts just sliding across a nylon seat cover! But how well will that fire your spark plugs at 160 PSI?

Effectively firing the mixture in a combustion chamber is more a function of energy-- amount and duration of current. And I'd be willing to bet none of the cheap distributors with high voltage coils works anywhere near as well as, let's say, those from MSD and Crane.
