Someone has asked about this idea, I think in the Conversation Thread to where it's a washed away topic now. Here are some pics from a company who builds them and some of what they'd look like.

Anyone else get more pics of the same, post them in this thread.

Mine wouldn't be that fancy. The roof wouldn't have that steep of a pitch and I'd be 2 level for the living section to have more shop space. I think this one is actually all metal house. But it looks very similar to the Shop/House I was talking about here just outside city limits.

Getting more common. They even make metal shingles now that appear like shake shingles and install basically the same way. And it looks great. Insurance companies love it and give lower rates cus it's syrofoam backed and makes it hail resistant too.

WOW, that is awesome. Friend of mine built one similar but not quite as fancy, to have something to live in while he built his own house, now he uses it for guests, he thinks it's crap, lol..

My coworker built one. Had metal building put up, then framed and finished inside similar to regular sticks house. Turned out nice.

We had one designed, and had a contract on the land to build on a few years back. Our barndominium. Land deal fell apart on us at closing and we walked away, and decided to buy a house so we could move in quick.

We thought it was a great idea.

I would rock something like that. Great idea. But for sure needs to be done outside of city limits.

That's a great name for one. "Barndominium". I've actually wanted to do it out at my dads. I don't need much living space. With a building tall enough, you can squeeze 2 level living area that's quite energy efficient.

I have a barn/house combo. That one looks a hell of a lot nicer than mine. For ***** and giggles, what would you have done differently if you consider that one tasteless?
