I have an '84 GMC K1500 that I'm putting back to stock height. Any recommendations? It is a daily driver.

Bilstein 5100 seems to be one of the universally loved shocks.

how do we determine the "stock" height of our trucks? mine sits pretty high but it has 3/4 ton, 4x4, and HD front/rear on RPO. I would imagine a non-hd would sit lower

Just measure the collapsed and extended height of the existing shock and that will get you moving in the right direction.

5100s are made in many different lengths.

so if you measure it off the truck you mean the farthest extent or do you mean loaded in base weight(nothing in truck) so its in middle of its comfort zone as a shock

edit: oh you said collapsed too, so take the bisection?

The shock manufacturer should be able to tell you the length of their shocks collapsed and extended.
