So I am doing all 4 shocks on my 87 shortbed. Napa's best vs. rough country, any opinions? Napas best shocks are made by Monroe I think and I got quoted 53.00 each with my discount. Tough country are 50.00 each free shipping. Truck has no lift kit.
Thanx in advance
Eric

I got these for $27, they are truck shocks, the reviewers swear by them. My Burb with 454 is a lil on the heavy side for them. They work great around town, very stiff, but not very good over 80mph it feels like a boat at that speed on big dips. But my truck is a massive boat at almost 9,000 lbs. Might be perfect for your truck.

I would be swearing at them too. Lower eye is tacked on.
Remember I'm a self-confessed shock wrecker... not everyone drives like this. But if you do, guys like me are your friends.
I also do **** like put holes in aluminum rads from gravel... gravel roads driving over at 100 mph kinda driftin fun.
So please try keep my opinions in perspective.

Rock Auto has a rebate on kyb gas a just. That would put them at about $40each.

I have some on my stock height k10, they give a very nice ride, not too stiff but a big improvement off road.

The KYBs are some of the better cheap shocks out there. I ran them on my full size 383 van hauling my dirt bike for years. Mind you
I never drove my van like it was stolen...

I'm ballin on a budget. I just got my k5 going and working out the rest of the bugs. I'm gonna give the 4 inch lift acdelco shocks on rockauto a shot and see how they turn out. 31 bucks each. Or has anyone tried those yet? The rear shocks are busted so I gotta do something pretty quick lol.

I've used Gas-a-Just shocks on one car and one pickup over the years. They are monotube shocks, which is a step above the Monroe someone linked to above. The 69 C10 I gave my son has a set that's gotta be close to 20 years old (around 30-40K miles). As for a stock replacement, the KYB Excel-G shock is as good as any, and probably better than entry-level Monroe or Gabriel. Check out Rockauto.com for pricing.

I need some shocks for my Suburban. I was checking out RockAuto and found these. Shocks with load adjusters. Has anyone tried them? What are your thoughts? I do haul quite a bit and sometimes it just stays in the back of my truck for weeks as I have no real storage space at home. I plan on towing with it also.

I don't know if it is a problem with the Suburban frames but I have been cautioned against tryiny to support any kind of load with the shock mounts at the frame on my Sierra Classic. Supposedly the frame has trouble holding the shock bolts without deforming around the bolt hole.
