What did everyone use to put in new rockers and floor pans? My truck is pretty rotten at the rockers and outer floor pan. I’m wondering if anyone has ever used this kit and if they have how they liked it? Also open to more suggestions on where I should get my sheet metal at, thanks

Also this is my issues here, cab corners are in good shape, fenders have some rust at the bottom corners of them, but that’s it rust wise

I dont know if I would trust ebay. Last shop I worked at . the customer bought sheet metal from ebay and all the panels were too short or warped badly and the thickness of the metal did not seem to be on par. I have heard good things about AMD . I think its auto metal direct. Just my two cents . others will chime in shortly with more guidance . just stand by lol

I would bet that the eBay panels are very similar or the same as many other sources out there. There can't be that many shops making the reproduction metal for these trucks. If that AMD place makes theirs it's probably the only place that does or either they get it imported to their specs, not sure which it is, but I know a guy on here works there cause I have read his posts before. If their stuff is imported I would bet that it's probably made at the same place as the others...but if theirs is thicker like I have heard they just spec it that way.

What I'm saying is most of it is imported probably and most likely all made at the same place, the only difference probably the sticker saying what brand it is

yeah careful with eBay, that's for sure. I'd probably try LMC, you think they'd be good but i've gotten crap from them before. nothing like getting sheet metal from a sheet metal specializing company. hands down.

Tabco.yep there stuff is way thicker than the import stuff. Mills supply used to be good also. And there is definetly more than 1 manufacturer of imported sheet metal. I used to sell lots of sheet metal some from tabco, some import and from 1 shipment to the next the stuff wouldn't match the previous months shipment.

AMD stuff is good if it's parts they have made the molds for otherwise they just sell other people's parts. There parts are still made in Taiwan but the molds are made in USA from what I have been told and they use thicker metal. If I remeber correctly any part number from AMD that had an X in it isn't made by them, but that could have changed. Been awhile since I've used them. I haven't used tabco but if they are as good as everyone says I might have to try them out on an 82 k10 I'm working on.

I have good luck with AMD and the parts fitting well on a 69 Chevelle. I have also ordered windows and such and have great service from them.

Address the leaking cowl before you fix anything else.

I ordered some sheet metal from brothers because they’re close to me. I was pretty satisfied with their rockers and floor panels.

I’ve used Classic Industries for my 85. Had to do a little tweaking on my cab corners to get my lines good but overall was very happy with them. Also have heard good things about Brothers. And remember, cheaper isn’t always better!

When you folks replace sheet metal do you apply any type of rust preventative inside the panels? When I worked at GM in the 70's one of my jobs was to spray zinc chromate to the inside of the fenders and the front of the hood(a lot of good that did, lol).

Do the panels just come with a elpo dip or are they properly primed and ready for paint?
