serpintine belt coversion

One more question can I just lengthen the alternator wires to the other side of the block. Then put the new connector plug on it. Do the wires do the same thing. Thats what I was planning on doing just making sure they go to the right places..

so nobody gave an answer to the pros and cons. most of the replies seem to be on the pro side. on the con side this is why I do not like serp belts. you only have one chance, if anything fails you are dead. with a v belt system just as long as the water pump is still turning you can limp to help. I still use my 78 to travel the back roads in remote locations(this is where cell phones don't work). so redundancy is important. just my 2 cents. highdesertranger

Cons- if the belt tensioner goes limp the belt will skip off and well...

Good points. Just have to carry extra belt...tensioner along with all the rest of the stuff. Funny my buddies say I can build another square with all the parts I carry around.. I found the plug adapter tough stuff makes it $20...
