Sell me on a cummins

I got over 13 grand in my crew and its not even close to being done

but its a complete frame off custom build I got over 2 grand in my 4l80/205 combo


a stock 1 ton 4x4 square body has a 10,000 pound gvwr

2 wheel drive 1 tons are 9,000

My plans arent to go full frame off but to do a paint job on body and frame, new bumpers wheels and tires and a bunch of stupid stuff and it comes out to be an estmate of having 10k in it without engine stuff.

when I do a budget I figure costs as best as I can get the number then double it then you will be close to the real costs.
after interior, stereo, other goodies and paint I will probably be over 20 grand in my crew cab.

if you want towing capacity and are worried about the frame I would just get a 1 ton.

I got to say a 1 ton crew with a cummins can't get much cooler than that for a tow rig.

I kicked around the idea of putting a cummins in my crew but I decided to go with a vortec 383 because I don't do much towing.

loi neither is mine ! an im about to do the same 2 grand in just tranny an supporting parts !

ok i will swap 1 ton springs, will i need 1 ton axles it has a 14 bolt rear and a dana 44 front

dana 60 is 1 ton front . I don't know what single wheel 1 ton is but mines a dana 70 rear

I bought a 94 dodge Cummins for 3500bucks with 120,000 miles sold the trans/transfer case for 1800bucks and went out and bought a custom built nv4500 for $1300. I then scraped the rest of the truck for probably 500bucks.

my thought is

$2000-strong running p-pump cummins
$1500-Remaned nv4500
$3000- 4l80e with computer
$500-motor mounts
$1000-other ******** to do it right

I would swap a 1 ton frame probably from a newer truck, because the truck has some sentimental value.(it was my moms)
