Seat covers, looking for recommendations - later in the thread reports on how my cover is holding up

Ok so as I said I ordered the Seat covers unlimited, saddle blanket seat cover from Amazon. My criteria was that it cost less than $100, because the company I had been using was $70 and their quality was very good, his covers would last me about 10 years. So I tried to find something from someone else comparable in a similar price range. I was not able to do that so I decided to go with an economy cover, figuring if I could get a couple years out of it I'd be happy with that and then maybe the seat cover guy would be back in operation. Anyhow the seat covers unlimited unit arrived on Monday. I took it out of the package, looked at it and put it back in the package and initiated a return with amazon. The reason being is it's just a much lighter thinner blanket material than I'm use to. After doing a little more looking around and thinking about the price I spent for this one ($40). I decided what the heck and went ahead and put it on. For the most part I'm glad I did. It's a nice looking cover, it fits the seat very well and secures in place very well.

Pictures will be in 2 posts and I'll have a little more commentary in the next post.

Below, simple string attachment. Front of the cover attaches underneath the seat. the back of the seat attaches to the loops on the center part of the seat cover. Attaching it like that seems to hold it firmly to the seat and also allows the seat to hinge forward for behind the seat access with the cover not limiting travel.

Just filled the front pockets with all my stuff out of the old cover. You can hardly even tell there is stuff in there they are a nice large size pocket.

Looks good. My LMC saddle blanket has the same system but I used small bungee cords which keep it snug but let it move when I need to get behind seat.

I agree. $50 a year doesn't ruin it for me but having to do it every year turns me off. Also I do like the mounting, a lot of attachment points and didn't have a problem with them other than getting loose after break in.

Pockets are a must. Also noticed quite a bit of shedding from the cover I got, and the material isn't as comfortable as the old ones.

Time to install a new one every year and after 4 years that would be $200 and I could have had a custom tailored saddle blanket seat cover from Daniel's for that amount. For one year I'm fine with it year after year not so much, but we'll see how it goes. I'm not having any shedding at least not yet.

This seat cover is a Seat Covers unlimited product and it shipped from Arizona so I assume it's the same company. No wait though 4 days from Amazon.

Looks good. My LMC saddle blanket has the same system but I used small bungee cords which keep it snug but let it move when I need to get behind seat.

Thanks, I agree it looks good. I'm not having any issues with getting behind the seat, but will keep that idea in mind if needed.

I have not tried their cover for a bench seat, but the covers they built for a 1995 60/40 split (which I have mounted in my 1979 K10) are outstanding. The best part was when I realized I had the wrong center console cover, so I called them, and a human answered the phone! And then they sent me the right part!!

Anyway, I really like them. Your mileage may vary.

This doesn’t help at all, but my wife bought a bunch of canvas/denim type fabric, and she’s gonna sew up a seat cover. I’ll be posting photos once it’s done. If it works out like she thinks it will, I can also ask her to keep notes - and possibly take progress pics - that I can post up for anyone else who wants to try making their own.

I looked them up, I'm pretty seriously addicted to Saddle Blanket covers, but those do look nice.

I seriously considered making my own, but it would have been more of a low brow method. When I realized Seatcover man was closed, I thought for a while about getting a canvas drop cloth, folding it on the corners and putting in grommets, that would also double as attachment points.

With that said I have no intention of making my own covers, but I would like to see what she makes you and any production pictures you might take, just because I'm interested in the process.

Ok time for an update. On January 27th, I installed the universal fit seat covers unlimited saddle blanket cover on my truck. Cost was $40.00. So I've had it on my truck for a little more than 4 months. I drive this truck 20 miles each way to the shop 4 days a week, use it on the farm, tow a trailer with it regularly and go on 100 mile one way feed hauls. My point is the truck gets a lot of use and I'm not always clean when I'm in it, and I have a great dane that likes to ride on the passenger side. I do take care of the truck, it just gets used a lot. Here are pictures of it from earlier today.

So far so good. It's really holding up great honestly I have no regrets in this cover. It folds forward with the seat just fine, and closes back into it's place without an issue everytime. It stays in place, I've not had to adjust it at all. It's just there and does it's job like a good product should.

Now I'm going to nitpick the cover.

Below are some pictures of flaws. I'm pretty sure two of the three I noticed when installing it, the other one I noticed later on. None of them are changing or getting worse, they are just there.

Like I said, got to really nitpick the cover to see those, but I felt since I was aware of them it would be unfair not to mention them. For $40 buck I'm very happy so far. I see no reason that I won't meet my minimum goal of a year out of this cover and the way it is going so far I'd be willing to bet it'll be around for sometime longer than that.

This is a hell of a lot better than the so-called universal two-piece saddle blanket cover I got from O’Reilly that does not fit the bench and has only 4 thin, cheap ties per part. Lol
