Please post some pictures. I am interested in this topic. Did you buy the Jeep shaft or the GM version?

Will do. I bought the GM version from summit. I am almost positive that the steering column had been replaced previously. The original invoice definitely says it has a tilt steering wheel but this one definitely does not tilt. So it may be that when whoever replaced it did the work they put some other model in. I was able to get on the phone with a summit tech and they are sending me a 1 inch round to a 1 inch double D joint. Should be here tomorrow at the same time as the correction bushings for the knuckles so hopefully I am close to getting back on the road. Fingers crossed.

78 an older columns have a splined output an the common "jeep shaft" upgrade won't work on them.

I found out the hard way then bought another u- joint and modifed the jeep shaft to fit mine.
